Brazil Campaigns To Put An End To The Conflict Between Russia And Ukraine
During his meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on Monday, the Brazilian foreign minister reiterated his country's call for an immediate cease-fire in Ukraine.
“Respect for humanitarian law and a negotiated solution with a view to a lasting peace that addresses the concerns of both sides” was another request made by Mauro Vieira during their meeting.
According to the state news agency Agencies Brazil, he also stated that Brazil can assist in the formation of a group of "neutral nations" to mediate negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
Lavrov stated that the Russian government is interested in resolving the conflict as soon as possible and expressed gratitude to Brazil for its efforts to negotiate an end to the war.
He offered the remarks while meeting with Vieira at Itamaraty Royal residence in the capital, Brasilia.
Additionally, Vieira criticized Russia's unilateral sanctions, pointing to their detrimental effects on global economies, particularly those in developing nations that have not yet recovered from the coronavirus pandemic.
The Russia-Ukraine war is currently in its subsequent year, and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has been looking for a tranquil finish to the contention, upholding that the European Association and different countries push for harmony talks, as per Offices Brazil.
Early on Monday, Lavrov arrived in Brasilia. The two ministers held bilateral talks for the second time at the meeting.
Brazil's agribusiness relies heavily on fertilizers from Russia, which is also the country's primary supplier.
According to Agencies Brazil, Russia will become Brazil's 13th largest trading partner in 2022.
